The printing industry has never been synonymous with sustainability, but we’ve made a commitment to reducing our carbon footprint, decreasing our energy and resource consumption, recycling and minimizing our waste and ensuring all paper used is from responsible sources.
FSC® Certified Printer
Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC) has certified our company as a responsible Chain of Custody printer, illustrating the emphasis we put on ensuring that our paper products come from environmentally-friendly sources. As an independent, non-governmental and not for profit organization, the FSC’s certification program promotes the responsible management of the world's forests by verifying that wood harvesting practices do not deplete natural resources.
Eco Friendly Manufacturing Processes
At George H. Buchanan, we are constantly developing new processes – and going beyond industry standards – to reduce our waste and consumption. For example, we’ve transitioned to a process-less plate in order to eliminate the residue created in normal plate-setting washing systems and saving 1,100 gallons per day in the process. We’ve also replaced isopropyl alcohol with an environmentally-friendly substitute that allows our printing presses to run with considerably less water and VOC’s (Volatile Organic Compounds).
Committed to Green Printing
We take the 3R’s very seriously, recycling all paper scraps, waste ink cartridges, plates, equipment and solvents whenever possible. We’ve even moved to energy-efficient lighting fixtures to make sure our carbon footprint is as small as possible.
